Learning Mentor

Learning mentors support children and young people, either in a group setting or individually. They will help students to overcome the challenges they may face while learning through motivation and guidance.

Course Description

This course will see you support learners of all ages, and all levels, to develop within a new work role. You will promote an ethos of motivation, aspiration and a passion for learning. 

Modules Covered

1 - Effective practice in providing accurate and relevant vocational/pastoral advice and guidance. 

2 - Questioning, active-listening and assertiveness techniques 

3 - Planning contextualised learning in authentic or realistic work settings 

4 - Legal requirements for recording, storing and sharing information on learners' progress, needs and welfare 

5 - The roles of education and workplace provider colleagues who contribute to learners filling their action plans

Eligibility

Is this course for me?


Individual employers may set any entry requirements which may include:

• A strong aspiration to support learners

• (As a dual professional) A qualification, at an apprenticeship level in the candidate's vocational/subject specialism

• Recent experience and knowledge relevant to the context of the mentoring role (e.g. current industry standards)

This course is fully funded and is available to anyone who falls within the eligibility requirements below: 


• Age 16+ 

• EU / UK Resident for 3+ years

• You will be required to have achieved Level 1 English and Maths

and achieved Level 2 English and Maths tests prior to completion

• You must be in employment.
