The updated NEBOSH National General Certificate course now incorporates two assessments:
- Unit NG1 includes an open book exam, which can be completed from your home.
- Unit NG2 involves a practical risk assessment conducted at your workplace, which is more extensive than the previous GC3 assessment.

What is an Open Book Exam?
An open book exam evaluates the same learning outcomes as a supervised, paper-based exam. During an open book exam, you're permitted access to textbooks, course materials, and the internet.
You can undertake an open book exam at your residence or another appropriate location. The NEBOSH open book exam provides a timeframe of up to 24 hours for completion, although most candidates typically finish within 4 to 5 hours.
The open book exam assesses your ability to apply acquired knowledge, along with testing analytical and critical thinking skills.
