Diploma in Playwork

Playwork is a method of working with children that allows the child to determine the content of their play. This involves focusing on processes such as exploration, testing ability and learning from ups and downs to build resilience.

Course Description

This Level 3 qualification will provide you with in-depth knowledge about the role of a playworker, specifically when working with children and young people between the ages of 4 to 16. You will understand how to manage play environments and how to manage other within your team. This qualification will also cover the knowledge and skills needed to be able to work unsupervised, a must-have for anyone looking to work within a Playwork setting. 

This qualification is suited to anyone currently working within a Playwork setting who has a knowledge and understanding of children and young people, as well as the principles of Playwork.

3 - Understand how to safeguard the well-being of children and young people 

4 - Understand the organisational framework for play 

5 - Understand how to support positive outcomes for children and young people 

6 - Understand relationships in the play environment 

7 - Understand health, safety and security in the play environment 

8 - Understand how to plan for and support children and young people’s self-directed play 

9 - Engage in personal development in health, social  =care or children’s and young people’s settings

Is this course for me?


This course is fully funded and is available to anyone who falls within the eligibility requirements below: 


• You have not yet received a Level 3 qualification or higher (equivalent to an A-level or higher).

• Age 19+ .

• EU / UK Resident for 3+ years.

• You MUST be working within a playwork setting.

• You will be required to have achieved Level 1 English and Maths.

and achieved Level 2 English and Maths tests prior to completion.
