The Level 4 Youth Justice & Youth Studies course is designed for those who want to make a positive impact in the lives of young people. It explores the causes of youth crime, the challenges facing young people today, and the workings of the criminal justice system. Whether you're aiming for a career in youth work, social care, the police, or the justice system, this programme equips you with the skills and insight to support vulnerable or offending young people.
You’ll engage with current debates surrounding youth crime and justice, including the effects of social inequality, mental health, education, and safeguarding. The course looks closely at how young people come into contact with the justice system and what can be done to support rehabilitation and prevent reoffending. You'll also study the key policies, legislation, and practices that underpin the UK’s youth justice system.
Through a combination of academic study, case analysis, and practical learning, you will build confidence in working with young people and understand how to respond professionally and empathetically to complex behaviours. The course supports both theoretical understanding and real-world application, giving you the foundation to pursue further qualifications or go directly into roles in the youth and criminal justice sectors.
