Whether you're already involved in coaching or looking to specialise in a sport you excel in, this course provides the essential knowledge, practical skills, and hands-on experience needed to thrive in the high-performance sports industry.
Delivered at the Sutton Coldfield College site of Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMet), the course is enriched by the college’s strong links with local sports clubs and its commitment to building on the legacy of the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. You'll gain access to a new Sports Analysis Suite, with cutting-edge software including WY Scout and HUDL, and benefit from the opportunity to support BMet’s High-Performance College Teams.
Your learning will be practical and applied, blending lectures, seminars, interactive practicals, and group work to build your coaching and analysis skills. A strong emphasis is placed on learning through doing, allowing you to apply theory to real-world coaching scenarios. The course also supports smaller class sizes and additional learning support where required, ensuring personalised development.
A key part of the course is the work-based learning placement, with 200 hours per year built into the programme. You’ll be expected to secure a vocational placement in a relevant area of interest within the sports industry. This enables you to build real-world coaching experience and enhance key skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Whether you want to pursue coaching, sports development, or performance analysis, this degree equips you with the confidence and tools to progress.
