Our global warming course will help you make net positive decisions in your daily life so we can slowly but surely change the direction our planet is heading in.
Why Now?
Climate change has always been something we’ve been aware of, but in the last 10 years the importance of reducing climate change has grown tremendously. 19 of the hottest years ever recorded have occurred since 2000 and if we don’t act soon, we could reach a global temperature that could permanently change life as we know it.
Global Warming has impacts on our health, sea levels and the wildlife around us. In fact, scientists have stated that we have until 2030 to reduce our environmental impact before permanent damage is made. This is no longer about protecting our future, but about conserving the environment our future generation grows up in.
The UK government has a target of being net-zero by 2030
Many have argued that we must reach net zero by 2030 to avoid lasting damage. Either way, it’s clear we all need to do more.
What’s being done now?
• A new climate change GCSE is being developed for 2025 to teach children how to conserve the planet.
• We are offering a new FREE online Level 2 Climate Change course to allow adults to learn more about what they can do to become more sustainable.
Environmental Sustainability for Businesses
Sustainability is quickly becoming a high priority for many businesses. Making moves towards becoming a ‘greener’ organisation can also provide cost-saving initiatives, such as reducing waste or saving energy.
This qualification covers the nature of climate change and the role that individuals, businesses and other organisations play in helping to reduce carbon emissions. This course gives the knowledge and understanding for individuals to act as drivers of positive change within the workplace and at home.
What can we do to prevent climate change
Is climate change preventable? Yes, there is still time to prevent climate change. All we have to do is stop everything we did to cause the issue. If a fire starts, pour water on it. Many people do not know how to make these positive changes which is why we are raising awareness. So, join us in an effort to educate the country on its most pressing threat. #ClimateChangeUK
Here are our 3 top tips to reduce your carbon footprint:
Energy use
Central heating is one of the main contributors to greenhouse gasses. It is very energy inefficient as most houses are not very well insulated. This means that most heat distributed rises to the top of the house and dissipates into the outdoors, in turn heating the outside. When it is put like this it seems so obvious.
Turn off your lights when you leave a room. But more importantly ensure you have energy saving bulbs. Many people still have old appliances with filament bulbs which are terrible for the planet. If you make the switch to energy efficient LED bulbs, you will not only save the planet but save money on electricity.
Recycle
We have one planet, meaning we have finite resources. If we use a finite material like plastic and do not recycle it, we run the risk of running out. It can be very energy inefficient to dig for these raw materials as we are having to go further to fuel our consumption. This in turn is taking a toll on the structural integrity of the planet and the atmosphere as fumes are pumped from our industrial equipment.
Commuting
Millions of cars emit greenhouse gasses that destroy our atmosphere. There are plenty of alternative options that could help save the future of our planet; Public transport, Biking and Walking are among them.
