Often ICT jobs are very technical so if you don’t have any prior qualifications or experience it’s best to start off applying for level 2 or 3 entry level apprenticeship positions.

As a CAD or computer-aided design technician, you'll use software to create design plans for buildings and machinery. You could work in a wide range of industries from engineering and construction to manufacturing. IT Infrastructure Technicians, also known as network support technicians need the following qualities:
- Great communication skills - you will need to be able to explain IT issues to colleagues who may not be technically minded.
- The ability to do multiple things at once - there may be more than one technical issue at any one time that you need to resolve.

The good points...

You will have the chance to work in different departments of the business and take on many technical skills and develop as the business grows and needs change.

You may be the only IT Infrastructure Technician on-site which can mean you can be isolated. Additionally, you will have to help people who are not technically minded so will need to be very patient.
